Books from Ralph’s libraries in London and Kampala now bear a label “Ex Libris Ralph Weir.” These books have all been for sale and may be paid for, at whatever price you think fair,. The charity each purchase will support was Ralph’s choice. It researches parasitic diseases, especially Bilharzia. That is a nasty water-borne parasite which Ralph himself contracted during a Ugandan triathlon. As with malaria, children are the most common victims.

Against Malaria Foundation
This charity was chosen by the Africa North to South team when they cycled from Cairo to Cape Town. They help protect people from malaria. They fund anti-malaria nets, specifically long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), and work with distribution partners to ensure they are used. They track and report on net use and impact.

Ralph donated to this charity out of his salary each month. The charity searches for and supports programs that save or improve lives the most per dollar. It researches the most cost‑effective ways to save and improve lives, shares their work openly, and direct donations to the programs they believe will do the most good.

Trees
As we all know, Ralph loved trees. The family has decided to commemorate Ralph’s life with newly planted trees- the more, the better- open to the public and their dogs, somewhere between South East London and Jo and Claire's home in Southampton. Dan Doherty, who managed Ralph at DEFRA, is liaising with Forestry England and details will follow, once the formalities are complete. Once we know what Forestry England can accommodate, contributions to this initiative will be most welcome. So please save some pennies for a crowdfunding initiative once we know exactly where we can go ahead with this proposal.
